A pull request is how your change gets reviewed and added to your team’s codebase. Onlook opens one for you from the branch it made for your copy.

Connect GitHub once

If the pill says Connect GitHub, press it. The agent signs you in to GitHub using GitHub’s command line tool, and installs that tool first if your Mac doesn’t have it. The agent shows you a one-time code and a web address. Open the address, enter the code, and approve. The pill updates when you’re signed in. If the pill says No Access, your GitHub account can’t reach this repository. It shows the repo and account, followed by “ask an owner”. Ask someone who owns the repo to add you.

Open the pull request

1

Press Create PR

The agent prepares a pull request for your branch against your main branch. It follows your repository’s own conventions for titles and descriptions.
2

Approve it

With Claude, a card asks for approval before anything reaches GitHub. Read it and choose Approve.
3

Share the link

When it’s done, the pill shows the pull request number. Click it to open the pull request on GitHub, and send the link to your engineers.

Keep it moving

Your engineers may leave comments on the pull request. To act on one, paste it into the chat and ask the agent to address it, then press Upload Changes.
Who merges is up to your team. Many teams want an engineer to review and merge. If your team wants you to merge from Onlook, switch the Ready to Merge menu to Merge. The agent then merges after you approve.

Push to Main

If you work on your own, you may not need a pull request. Push to Main asks the agent to push your branch to GitHub without opening one. To use it, open the menu next to the pill and choose Push to Main. On a team, a pull request is the safer choice. An engineer sees and reviews your change before it reaches main, and nothing goes live by accident. If you’re not sure which your team wants, ask, and use Create PR until you know.
